Zachary Sweet is currently instructor of cello at Nazareth College, Binghamton and Colgate Universities, on the faculty at Ithaca Talent Education and Music Together of Ithaca. Nationally, he is recognized as an up and coming clinician having led workshops, masterclasses and institutes in Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, and Utah, with upcoming engagements in Arkansas, New Hampshire, Texas and Virginia. In February, he became the newest cello Teacher Trainer Candidate for the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Zachary performs extensively throughout the US as soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. Currently, Zachary is principal of Colgate University Orchestra, and performs regularly with the Society for New Music and mezzo-soprano, Ivy Waltz. In October, 2019, he presented the inaugural “small bites” recital for the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra. Zachary completed his Master’s in Performance and Literature at the Eastman School of Music in 2006. During his studies there, he became a member of the Eastman Chamber Society, was Principal of Eastman Philharmonia, Eastman Chamber Orchestra, and Eastman Opera Orchestra, and studied chamber music with the Ying Quartet, Elinore Freer, Dr. Jean Barr, Richard Kilmer, and Dr. Kenneth Grant; his principal instructors have been Alan Harris, Kathy Kemp and Carol Vizzini.
