Ruth Bergman is an active teacher and performer, Ruthbased in the Greater Hartford area. Ruth holds a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance and a Master of Music degree in violin performance and Suzuki pedagogy from the Hartt School, with additional undergraduate studies at the Lawrence University Conservatory. Her primary teachers include Katie Lansdale, Anton Miller, Elizabeth Faidley, Roy Malan, and Allen Ohmes. Ruth has studied violin pedagogy with Teri Einfeldt and Melinda Daetsch
Ruth has been on the faculty of the Hartt Community Division since 2008, and the Suzuki Music School of Westport since 2011, as well as maintaining a private studio in West Hartford. Ruth is proud to teach through the Gifts of Music Program, a partnership between the Hartt Community Division and West Hartford Public Schools, which offers private music lessons to students of high potential who could not otherwise afford lessons. A native of Iowa City, Iowa, she was artistic director and violin teacher for the Zwischenspiel Summer Music Camp, a chamber music program for young string players in Iowa City from 2005-2007. Ruth has performed with a number of regional orchestras and enjoys collaborating as a chamber musician.
