teacher development course
The Revisiting Piano Book 1 course is designed for teachers who have registered a minimum of Piano Unit 1 and have at least one year of Suzuki teaching experience.
The objective is to strengthen and update one's teaching by approaching the repertoire and its concepts from a fresh perspective. Discussions cover the application of the Suzuki philosophy, teaching points in Book 1, layering of skills, addressing the challenges of the beginning student, and more.
The format of the course includes lecture, small group discussion, student observation, possible role-playing, and playing demonstration of the teaching points and concepts.
- Suzuki teachers who have completed or registered for ECC! and Piano Unit 1 (or 1A and 1B)
- Suzuki teachers who have taught for at least one year.
Dates: The course will be held on August 26-29, 2017. Class times are:
Saturday - 1-6:30pm (includes a 30min break)
Sunday - 10-4pm (includes a 1h lunch break)*
Monday - 10-3pm (includes a 1h lunch break)*
Tuesday - 10-3pm (includes a 1h lunch break)*
*Each participant is responsible for his/her own food
We reserve the right to cancel the course if not enough participants enroll by August 12th, 2017.
Upon successful completion, this course will be registered with the SAA, Suzuki Association of the Americas.
